  • Yes
  • Carbon dioxide gas is released from magma has accumulated in the soil sufficient concentrations

  • Yes but it has to originate directly from the volcanos groundwater system or a stream covered in volcanic ash

HAZARDS

  • Earthquakes
  • Not usually
  • Earthquakes associated with eruptions rarely exceed magnitude of 5

  • Helicopter engine stalls due to ash in the air
  • Yes
  • Because of the volcanic ash in the engine stalls it and won't work anymore
  • In the past many, many aircrafts encountered volcanic ash.

WHAT TO DO...

  • When your in a pyroclastic flow
  • You can't run away from pyroclastic flows
  • But you could probably survive if you get to somewhere safe before pyroclastic flow happens
