Amelia Earhart was born the day of July 24, 1897 in Atchison, Kansas. She grew up with her sister Muriel. Amelia and Muriel had all sorts of adventures growing up. Amelia enjoyed collecting all sorts of insects and frogs. With the help of her sister and uncle she made a roller coaster in her backyard. Amelia and Muriel played baseball and football. Amelia's parent's were Edwin and Amy Otis Earhart.
Amelia enjoyed doing physics, chemistry, and did endless reading. When Amelia graduated in the year of 1916, she was known as "the girl in brown who walks alone." Amelia and her sister Muriel went to private schools when they were young. When Amelia was older she got a job as a mechanic for airplanes. Amelia then got a job as a pilot.
Amelia's strong will and conviction enabled her to overcome the challenging technical problems, gender bias and financial obstacles. Amelia began her flight around the world June 1937. She was the first person from the Red Sea to India. Amelia Earhart is mostly known for being the first women to fly. She is also a woman leader.
Daring - In 1928, Amelia was invited to take part in a historic flight across the Atlantic.
Daredevil - Amelia was not satisfied, however. She wanted to make the same trip across the Atlantic, but this time she wanted to pilot the plane and make the flight by herself.
