The beautiful wriggling worms
This Cycle Has Been Successful
A process that eliminates...
Bacteria and Fungi
Gather Nitrogen And Attach Themselves To Soil Particles
Bacteria have tiny hairs that attach to soil particles.
Fungi have Hyphae, that also attach to soil particles.
By attaching they don’t pollute, like chemical fertilizers. They are the gatherers.
Worms, nematodes and soil mites devour this Bacteria and Fungi
The Worms poop out Nitrogen and at least 35 other nutrients in a form that the plants roots can easily absorb.
Bacteria feed on sugars so we give them molasses
Fungi crave proteins, so we grind up fish and their happy as a clam
Native Americans, were aware of this relationship, and put a fish in the soil as they planted their corn seed
Plants need the other 34 nutrients found in the worm poop
Fertilizer only has three nutrients: nitrogen, phosphorous, and potash,
N-P-K
We keep overdosing the soil with N-P-K, excess nitrogen and phosphorous, polluting our drinking water, and ruining our streams, bays, and oceans
A little fresh compost each spring, and we can kiss those bags of fertilizer good bye and good riddance
