VALLEY

  • A valley is a low area in between hills and sometimes a river in between
  • Valleys can be found all over the world but most common in mountains

PLAINS

  • A plain is a flat region and occur as lowlands & at the bottom of valleys
  • Plains are located in the south and midwest region

REEF

  • A reef is sandbar, rock and other features in the ocean
  • Reefs are located in the western indian ocean and western reaches of the south Pacific

PLATEAU

  • An area having a level surface raised above adjoining land
  • The largest plateau in north America is in Colorado

ISLAND

  • Is any sub continental land surrounded by water
  • Hawaii, bora bora and Maldives are all islands

RIVERS

  • Natural watercourses flowing toward an ocean, sea, lake or other river
  • Rivers are located all over the world the largest river is the Nile

LAKES

  • An area surrounded by land apart from rivers or other outlet
  • Shawnee Lake & Lake of the Ozark's

MOUNTAINS

  • Large landform that stretches above the surrounding land and forming a peak
  • Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world

STRAIT

  • A narrow passage of water connecting large areas of water or seas
  • Cook strait separating the north and south island of new Zealand

PENINSULA

  • Land connected to mainland on one side and bordered by water on 3 sides
  • Florida is a peninsula

ISTHMUS

  • A narrow strip of land connecting 2 larger pieces of land with water on a either side
  • Mexico and south America are Isthmus

ARCHIPELAGO

  • A group of islands
  • Hawaii is an Archipelago

CANYON

  • A Deep ravine between cliffs and often carved by landscape of a active river over geological times scale
  • The Grand Canyon

  • A low watery land formed at the mouth of a river
  • Sacramento delta

GULF

  • A bay is in the arm of an ocean or sea
  • The gulf of mexico
