  • The home of Alexander Graham Bell is in Nova Scotia
  • It is the home of the Hopewell Rocks
  • One of the most famous landmarks there is the Confederation Bridge
  • Saint Johns river valley is in New Brunswick
  • Prince Edward Island National Park was the setting for Anne of Green Gables

  • Consists of Nunavut, Yukon, and Northwest Territories
  • Only 10,000 people live in the whole northern provinces!
  • Very many gold, lead, copper, diamond and zinc mines
  • AKA the "Land of the Midnight Sun". Because daylight can last 24 hrs
  • Consists of the great Aurora Borealis

NUNAVUT

  • Established in 1999.
  • The capital is Iqaluit.
  • Nunavut means "our land" in Inuktitut.
  • Nunavut is significant to hunting!
  • Eastern part of the Northern Provinces

YUKON

  • Capital of Yukon is Whitehorse.
  • Thousands of miners came to Yukon during the gold rush of the 1890s.
  • Mining is still very significant to Yukon today.
  • Yukon holds the record for the coldest temperature in Canada of -63°C
  • Western part of The Northern Provinces

NORTHWEST TERRITORIES

  • Originally established in 1870
  • The capital of the Northwest Territories is Yellowknife
  • Often called the "diamond capital of North America"
  • Consists of the Mackenzie River. (2nd largest river system in North America!)
