ANCIENT EGYPT WOMEN

  • The women in Egypt didn't have as many rights as the men.
  • They did have some rights like a divorce, court, and marriage.
  • The women could reject men, they were not forced to marry.
  • They also could own property or have a job outside of raising children.
  • Fun-fact The women could marry as low as 8 to 9. The women could defend themselves if they broke the law.

HIEROGLYPHICS

  • Was the writing that the Egyptians created.
  • They used hieroglyphics to keep track of trades in Egypt.
  • It has 700 to 800 glyphs in the hieroglyphic system
  • Hieroglyphics were used by Egyptians for 3,500 years.
  • Only nobles were allowed to use hieroglyphics.

  • The Rosetta Stone allowed scientists to read hieroglyphics.

EGYPTIAN EDUCATION

  • Only boys went to school.
  • Ancient Egyptian learning came from Egyptian language (hieroglyphics)
  • In Egypt they taught writing,reading,math, and sports. Children went to school at the age of 4
  • In ancient egypt reading was very important
  • They thought that reading held a great career in the future

EGYPTIAN ARTWORK

  • Artwork was everything in Egypt.
  • Through studies of artwork they found out about there culture and lifestyle.
  • They put paintings and sculptures in the tombs of pharaohs.
  • They also had artwork on temple walls.
  • The most common colors was blue,red,green,black, & gold.
