THEIR CHILDHOOD

• There were five kids in the Wright Family
• The oldest was Reuben, then Lorin, next was Wilbur, then Orville, the youngest was Katherine
• The Wright Family grew up in Ohio and Indiana
• They fought a little bit, but they were much closer than most siblings are
• The Wright Family was very caring, loving, and smart

FACTS ABOUT WILBUR WRIGHT

• Was quiet, but sure of himself
• Excelled in school
• Had an extraordinary memory
• Was a good athlete
• Was intellectually motivated

ABOUT ORVILLE WRIGHT

• He had boundless curiosity
• Was very optimistic
• Didn't always apply himself in school
• But his work habits got better in high school
• Hecould also be mischievous in the classroom

A FEW OF THEIR PLANES

• 1903 Flyer 1- First powered aircraft
• Made a sustained, controlled flight
• 1904 Flyer 2- Almost exactly like Flyer 1
• 1905 Flyer 3-Also successful
• These planes were successful

FUN FACTS

• Orville was once expelled in elementary school
• Neither Wright Brother was married
• Neither went to college
