CAUSES OF DEPLETION

  • The stratospheric ozone is being destroyed by a group of manufactured chemicals
  • These chemicals Include chlorine, and Bromine
  • About 90% of these manufactured chemicals in the atmosphere were emitted by industrialized countries
  • Countries include; United States, china, and Many others
  • CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons ) were banned in 1996

ANTHROPOGENIC

  • It has been discovered that stratospheric ozone is depleting as a result in anthropogenic pollutants
  • Depletion rates have been observed since the 1970's and a steady decline of 4% of the ozone depletes per decade
