Aristotle

  • He thought Earth was the center of all things
  • He made models with the Earth in the center
  • He discovered if Earth went around the sun, the relative position of stars would change

Aristarchus

  • He wanted to know the distance from the planets and stars
  • He attempted to measure the relative distance from the moon and sun
  • He made important observations for the scientist too
  • He helped with making models

Ptolemy

  • He was a astronomer, geographer, and mathematician
  • He made a geocentric model of the planets with Earth in the center
  • He made models that moved in a circular movement
  • It helped scientist make predictions for the future

Copernicus

  • He was into the way the planets were placed
  • He had observations and had data about the movement
  • He was great fro the detailed models he made
  • Instead of putting the Earth in the center he put the Sun
  • He helped with the first step in the development of modern models for the solar system

Kepler

  • He made observation on the planets by the movement it goes in
  • He showed that the planet don't go in a complete circular motion
  • He formulated the three principles, which are known as Kepler's laws
  • 1) planets orbit are ellipses with the sun 2)Planets move faster when closer to sun
  • 3) Distance from the planets to the sun of how long it takes to orbit

Galileo

  • He was into making improvements and invented the telescope
  • He also made great observations about the moon, and the different phases
  • He also discovered the way the planets move too
  • He made the telescope which was a big help to scientist
