WHAT ELEMENTS MAKE UP STERLING SILVER?

92.5% of sterling silver is silver, the other 7.5% is usually copper.

SUBSTITIUTIONAL OR INTERSTITIAL?

Substitutional because the silver and copper atoms bond to eachotherr to form the alloy.

EVIDENCE

As early as 3100 B.C., ambassadors from Crete brought sterling silver vases as gifts for Egyptian rulers.
