PRESENTATION OUTLINE
In recent years, it has been made clear that the federal government is unable to properly carry out their duties concerning border security.
POWER OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNEMENT
- Papers and legal documents
- Legal procedures (legal immigration)
POWER OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT
The national government thus far has been unable to properly maintain the country's borders (the thousands of children who crossed our borders).
The states should be able to maintain their external borders how they see fit. For example, Texas has major immigration issues.
Federalism both hinders and helps our cause. Inherent power gives national government rights to immigration but concurrent powers give national and state governments power to spend for the general welfare. Also the 10th amendment allows states to protect their health, welfare, and morals.
