HER EARLY LIFE.

  • Marie Curie was born in Warsaw on November 7, 1876,
  • Her father was a math teacher
  • She learned as much as she could from her father

EARLY SCHOOLING

  • She learned as much as she could from her father
  • She secretly went to a college in Warsaw.

LIFE IN PARIS

  • She then went to Paris to continue her studies in college. Where women could go legally
  • In Paris she received degree in both science and math.

NEW LIFE, AND NEW LOVE

  • In 1894 she met Pierre Curie her future collaborator and husband
  • Together they discovered radium and polonium.

THE AGE OF CURIE

  • In 1903 they won the Nobel prize for their work with radium
  • She became the first women to win the Nobel prize.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST END.

  • Together they had two daughters
  • Sadly in 1906 Pierre was killed in a terrible accident

CONTINUE THE FIGHT

  • After Pierre's death, curie took over his teaching at the university.
  • She won the Nobel prize again for her work with polonium.

X- RAY AT THE FRONT

  • She used radioactivity for x rays in World War One
  • Both she and her daughter served as x- ray medics at the front.

THE END OF A ERA

  • Miss curie died in 1934 because of leukemia
  • Some believed that she died because of her work with radioactivity.
