TIMBER RATTLE SNAKE

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Adult body length is 36-54 in. And the maximum length is 74 in.
  • Body length at birth is 8-16 in.
  • Breeding period: August and April
  • Young per year: 5-17 live young
  • 1.3 to 2 pounds

COLORS & PATTERNS

  • They usually have 5 colors which includes a dark brown,light brown,creamy white,and black
  • The pattern is chevron stripes and spots
  • It can have an orange or red color to it too

DRAWING OF SNAKE

DIET

  • Small rodents including squirrels,mice,shrews,birds, & chipmunks
  • Sometimes other snakes and amphibians

STEPS TO ATTRACT PREY

  • They rattle their rattler
  • Then they sneak up on their prey very quietly
  • Then they STRIKE
  • To kill the prey it bites and holds it until it dies

POISONOUS

  • If you get bitten it will cause swelling and occasionally bleeding
  • You would have to go to the hospital to get it treated(immediately)
  • This is one of North America's most dangerous snakes because of it's long fangs,
  • Impressive size, and high venom

LIVE YOUNG

  • The timber rattlesnake has live young
  • It usually has up to 6-18 live young
  • The young is born around August and April

FACE CHARACTERISTICS

  • It has a pit in between its eye and nostril
  • It's eyes are black and they have a white or grey
  • Background
  • It's tongue can be black mad it looks like a Y

OTHER FACTS

  • It makes a buzzing sound
  • It rattles it's rattler
  • It doesn't make any odor but when it's
  • Dead it smells like onions
