The Russo-Japanese War (8 February 1904 – 5 September 1905)
was "the first great war of the 20th century."

Japan wanted to divide korea.
Also wanted to divide manchuria.
Japan wanted to turn them into spheres of influence.

SUMMARY
Russia saught a warm water port on the Pacific Ocean.
The negotiations between Russia and Japan seemed impractical and did not work.
They ended up going o war.
The photo in the background is of people in a trench ready to fight.
