Energy and Waves

  • Sound is energy.
  • Travels in longitudinal waves
  • Needs a medium

Properties of an Energy Wave

Compression is like a peak.
Rarefaction is like a valley.
The amplitude is the thickness of the compression or rarefaction.

Wavelength is the distance from compression to compression or rarefaction to rarefaction.

The greater the amplitude, the greater the intensity.
