6 CORE VALUES

KARLA ROMERO (:

HONESTY

HONESTY IS TO TELL THE TRUTH AND NOT LIE, CHEAT OR STEAL

An example would be:
Lucy had taken a huge test a couple of days ago and she hadn't studied as much as she should have, so she didnt expect a high grade. When she got her test back she was surprised that she had gotten an A. After examining her test she found more then just a couple of wrong answers that her teacher had marked as correct. She knew that telling the TRUTH was the right thing to do and so she showed her test to her teacher. Her teacher valued her honesty, and she felt good about having told the truth.

INTEGRITY

Integrity is having strong moral principles

An example of integrity is:
Dylan's friends were always known for doing things for others. If someone had dropped their books in a crowded hallway they would be there to help. The thing is, they only did it when an adult was near by to give them credit for it. Once while walking late to class they came across a younger student who had a ton of things to carry. Seeing that no one was around to give them credit his friends didn't do anything to help her out. Dylan on the other hand knew that it was the thing he should do and he helped her with her books.

RESPECT FOR SELF

RESPECT FOR YOURSELF IS NOT DOING ANYTHING HARMFUL TO YOUR SELF BUT BENEFICIAL FOR YOU.

An example of respect for self is:
Janice went a party with her boyfriend Luke. At the party she was offered drugs and she was tempted to have some when her boyfriend had accepted the offer. She knew exactly what the result of taking them could be and how badly they could hurt her body. She had things she wanted to do and having taken drugs could at some point come and ruin it all. She rejected them cause she knew she didn't want to ruin herself like that.

RESPECT FOR OTHERS

RESPECT FOR OTHERS IS RESPECTING OTHERS DIGNITY AND TREAT THEM IN THE RIGHT WAY

An example of respect for others is:
Having been a student at her school for almost six years she knew everyone there. Betsy was walking when the hall when she saw that two of the older kids were shoving a younger student up against their locker and were insulting him. She knew that what they were doing was disrespecting him and that she hated seeing that. She went up to them and told them to "cut it out". They simply let him go and walked away not caring. She asked him if he was okay and helped him with his stuff.

RESPONSIBILITY

DOING WHAT YOUR SUPPOSED TO DO AND HAVE A DUTY TO DEAL WITH

An example of responsibility is :
Know that Zelda is old enough to have a job , she started working at Nordstrom. Even though it meant having to go to work directly after school until later at night she wanted to have some extra money. One day after school all of her friends started talking about how they were going to go to watch this great movie that had just came out. She really wanted to go but she knew that she had the responsibility of having to go to work. All of her friends told her about how it wouldn't hurt to just miss one day but she ended up skipping out on the while movie things knowing that she had to fulfill her duty and that when she signed up for her job she was serious.

COURTESY

BEING POLITE AND SHOWING MANNERS

An example of courtesy is:
Everyone would always make sure to be polite and nice around Shaniqua. Why? You may ask. Well she was always polite around others. Every time someone sneezed, you would hear her saying "bless you". There wasn't a time when she was given something in which the giver wasn't given a thank you. She made sure to say excuse me and please when ever she needed something. As a result of her politeness she was looked at a very respectful and polite.
