ALBINISM

(Being albino)

WHAT IS ALBINISM?

  • Albinism is a genetic condition also called achromia
  • It is seen as an absence of pigment in a persons skin, eyes or hair
  • This disorder happens with all humans , mammals, fish and reptiles
  • The allele for this disease is a recessive trait.

IS IT GENETIC?

  • This disease has a twenty five percent
  • Of infecting the offspring and only if both
  • The parents have it or if they both have the
  • Recessive trait for albinism

WHERE DOES IT HAPPEN?

  • An estimated one in twenty thousand
  • People get this disease
  • It's more common in sub-Saharan people

HOW MANY TYPES ARE THERE?

  • There are four types of albinism
  • Type 1 OCA1 (Most Common)
  • Type 2 OCA2 ( More Common)
  • Type 3 OCA3 (Less Common)
  • And Type OCA4 (Less Common)
