  • Thought earth was center of all things
  • He placed all other things in space around earth in his solar system model
  • He thought that the star revolved around earth and moved as earth did
  • The shift of these positions seen from different locations is know as a parallox
  • Parallax can not be seen with the naked eye

  • Created the first know model placing the sun in the center of the solar system

PTOLEMY

  • Mathematician
  • Astronomer
  • His theory was that the solar system was spheres set around each other

COPERMICUS

  • Astronomer
  • Identified the idea of a heliocentric solar system
  • This idea is where the sun rather than the earth is the rather than the earth is the center of the solar system

KEPLER

  • German mathmetician
  • German astronomer
  • Key figure in the seventeenth century
  • Most known for his laws of planetary motion

GALILEO

  • An Italian astronomer physicist and mathmetician
  • Played a huge role in the revolution during the Renaissance
  • Widely known as one of the greatest scientist of all time
