Higher Level Thinking

  • Students will write relevancy of multiplying fractions in real world scenarios and have students model pictorial representations
  • After completing this task, students will then re confer, re compare and re clarify based on the pictorial representations

Formative Assessments

  • Using True or Not True Hold Ups to assess students understanding of operations of rational numbers. Students will have 4 cards (True, Not True, True with Modifications, Unable to Determine) to choose from and based on the question, will hold one card up.
  • Example Question: Can you multiply a fraction and a whole number?

Academic Language

  • Using the Concept Mapping strategy, we can build Academic Language by showing the many different representations/synonyms of ratios.
  • Example - Ratio : Fraction : Division
