Set up Focus Notes:
Objective: Discuss and write a coherent response about the work that was completed in ELA before Spring Break, and P.B.S. skills.
Essential Question: What are the expectations?

There were so many different teachers, I would like an honest view from you about this classroom the few weeks before Spring Break.

1.
Who were some of your guest teachers? What did you like, and not like about them.

This weeks agenda

  • Review what was completed.
  • Review P.B.S. skills, and classroom cleanliness.
  • Review and fix the final for the unit.
  • Begin next units vocabulary

These focus notes will be collected and graded. Write neatly, and answer honestly.

Do not forget

2.
What you were able to complete, and what were you unable to complete in the time I was gone and why?

1 being worst, 4 being best

  • 3. How would you grade your work habits in this class while I was gone? (JUSTIFY WHY)
  • 4. How would you grade your classmates work habits in this class while I was gone? (JUSTIFY WHY)

let's discuss your responses

  • Raise your hand to contribute to the discussion.
  • wait to be called on.
  • do not make a comment until you are called on.

1 being worst, 4 being best

  • 5. How would you grade your behavior in this class while I was gone? (JUSTIFY WHY)
  • 6. How would you grade your classmates behavior in this class while I was gone? (JUSTIFY WHY)

let's discuss your responses

  • Raise your hand to contribute to the discussion.
  • wait to be called on.
  • do not make a comment until you are called on.

7. Staying on task

  • what does it look like?
  • What does it feel like?

8. Rate yourself and explain:

SCALE
1: I was never on task. I completed nothing.
2: I was not on task most of the time, I completed bits and pieces.
3: I was on task most of the time, but may have been off task sometimes.
4: I was always on task, completed all of my work. I'm just that awesome.

Take this scenario….
Your friend is having a crisis, and your parent allows you to stay at their house for a few days. While you were gone your sister or brother decide that they are going to stay in your room without permission. When you come back, you find your room a mess. Paper all over the floor, your furniture is moved, a piece of gum is stuck to your wall, inappropriate writing on the walls, and spit wads everywhere.
How do you feel, and what do you do?

9.
why should we respect property in a classroom?

F.Y.I. on Extra Credit:

Do not ask me for it! Do not ask me to do more work because you didn't complete your work when it was given.

What can you do to make it up

  • Look for it in your binder, complete it, turn it in by the end of this week.

What if I can't find it???

  • I will not make another copy for you.
  • You can e-mail me: Mrs. Muir I did not complete _______ assignment, and I will e-mail it to you.
  • Complete the assignment by Friday
  • Look up what you are missing on Aeries. I will not do it for you.

What if you can't e-mail???

  • Come talk to me AFTER SCHOOL.
  • Not during passing period.
  • Not during class.

WHY? It took personal time and effort to put together the packets, and my own paper and ink. If you're not going to respect my time, then you can use your own time to come and ask how to make up your grades.

WHY? I explained the expectations on the day I came back, and had it written on the board when I was gone. (I wrote: if you do not complete it in class, it is homework). You need to start paying attention to your surroundings. Again all of this takes time and effort on my part. If I'm willing to put in the time for you, I'd appreciate it if you put in the time for yourself. As I am not here for my success, I'm here for yours.

GRADES
Check and pass on

Summary: Explain in complete sentences

  • Your goal grade for the end of the year (must be higher then the current grade)
  • How do you plan on getting there?
  • The expectations until the end of the year.
