What is Holy Week?
Holy Week is the last week in Lent, and the week before Easter. Starting from Palm Sunday going though to Easter Sunday.
Holy Thursday; there is no mass but there is a liturgy and the washing of the feet Liturgy-symbolising the last supper.
Good Friday:
3:00 There is the stations of the Cross and instead of receiving the Eucharist you go up and kiss the Crucifix
Easter Saturday:
There is a mass, it is like the Easter Sunday Mass but it's Saturday evening. You bring a candle and light it from the Paschal Candle, that gets lit from the fire.
Easter Sunday:
There is a big celebration Mass.
Easter eggs represent new life or the sealing of the Tomb of Christ and their cracking symbolised His resurrection from the dead.
Holy Week in New Zealand is very similar to Holy Week in Poland. Except on Holy Saturday Poles bring baskets fill with food to Mass.
Poles bring baskets fill with food to Holy Saturday Mass for the Priest to bless.
Most baskets contain bread, a lamb, salt, eggs, horseradish and sausage but you can also add any type of food if you want.
