St. Agnes was

She was

wealthy
Christian
family.
She died

because she
wanted to stay
a virgin.
Some young men found out
that Agnes was a devout Christian. The Prefect Sempronius condemned her to be dragged naked on the streets. She was then taken to a brothel.
She was tied to a stake to be burned either the wood wouldn't burn or the flames parted. So, an officer beheaded her.
St. Agnes
