PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Biochemistry & Cells Background - Carbohydrates

  • Carbohydrate's elements are carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen
  • Carbohydrate's have monomers, which are called saccharides (sugar).
  • Carbohydrate's main function is energy and storage.
  • Some examples of carbohydrates are glucose, sucrose, starch, and glycogen

Biochemistry & Cells - Lipids

  • The elements of lipids are carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and phosphorous.
  • The monomers of lipids are three fatty acids and glycerol.
  • The main function of lipids is fats and oil give energy and cholesterol
  • Lipids also have phopholipids for the membrane.
  • Some examples are fats, oils, waxes, steroids, cholesterol, and phospholipi
