The dynamic implementation of PLP's

My project proposal was about the dynamic implementation of PLP's and by that I mean not another form that we have to fill out but a transformation of the learning environment to become more personal.

Project Adventure

Grade 9 Team + Summer 2015
Right after school ended, the ninth grade team plus myself and Mr. Robtoy to make up for a few who weren't present took part in a PA training in order to bring some experiential learning to the implementation of PLP's starting during freshman orientation. We will be playing around with some of these activities during inservice and throughout the year and I encourage you to bring them to your own AT's to make them more active and increase engagement. There are a ton of no height, no ropes activities that can be used to help students make connections to their learning

Learning can be fun

That last activity was rough but most of the time we had a lot of fun which is one of my goals for this year; bring fun to my learning and the learning of all of you as well as students.

Steering Committee

My fellowship is being supported by a steering committee made up of 6 students and 5 faculty members. We recently did some planning and playing at Jay Peak. Every member is working on some piece of this so this team should be considered a resource for you all and we will also be looking for 9th graders to be on the committee.

Personal Learning Structures

  • Grading & reporting
  • Instruction
  • Classroom structures
  • Transformation
  • Professional learning
So far I have been working on researching and finding resources on various learning structures that increase our schools ability to personalize learning. I have also been doing a lot of work around making change and how that happens best as well as how to make professional learning more meaningful as we try to provide training to all of you who will be implementing Act 77 and working toward a more proficiency based system by 2020. I have been researching and contacting schools, conferences and other professionals that might serve as resources for us.

Professional Learning

Teachers worked on various projects this summer including... I will plan on using my Monday and Tuesday time to document this work and share it with everyone so we can all learn and inspire each other.

Where to find me?

My plan is to be here on Mondays to run my AT as well as Tuesdays so I can participate in faculty and team meetings. I won't be providing any traditional inservice but I am eager to work with people on projects so if you have anything please don't hesitate to email me or track me down while I'm here.
