TRANSPIRATION

  • Is when water flows from the roots to the leaves
  • If a plant absorbes water that is red it will turn red!

Infiltration

  • Seeps into the ground and becomes ground water
  • Can take days to reach the water table
  • If the soil is already wet it can slow the process

Groundwater

  • Is located beneath the earth
  • We use it mostly for drinkingwater
  • It comes from the infiltration that seeps into the ground
  • Some groundwater is still there from the stone age

Runoff

  • Is the water that does not sink into the earth
  • Can sometimes cause floods
  • Flows into a lake or stream
  • Collects trash from the streets
