My number one goal for this year is to graduate successfully with my school library license and MLIS degree. I also plan to apply and obtain a public library license. Before the end of the school year, I will analyze my library collection and begin the process of weeding outdated materials. Finally, I plan to revamp the library space to make it more student oriented for next year!
My first full year in a new school, I plan to focus on strengthening three areas of the school library program: Collection Development, Collaboration, and 21st Century Research Skills. I will do this by building relationships with faculty, learning the curriculum, budgeting and writing grants to acquire more technology for the library.
For my second year at WCE, I plan to get involved with the parents and family members of my students. I will have already joined the PTA and plan to use the organization to recruit volunteers for the school library.
I plan to become a Literacy Leader by getting my National Board Certification for Professional Teaching Standards. I also plan to work on the School Improvement Team and as a Digital Learning Coach. I will actively participate in professional associations and conferences, then share new knowledge with faculty members.
By my fourth year, I hope to be well established in the school community. I plan to use my relationships to advocate for resources for my students and the library program. Finally, I hope to have a strong voice in the planning and executing of school wide goals and objectives.
Fifteen years from now, I hope to be well liked and respected by my colleagues, and remembered by past students. I know I will work with students in some capacity until I retire.
