WHAT IS A CONSTELLATION
- A pattern or group of stars that people imagined to represent a figure, animal, or object

CULTURE

  • Western culture there are 88 constellations
  • Most of their names come from the Greeks
  • The Greeks took the names from the Egyptians and Meso.
  • Some constellations names come from latin words
  • Some are named for people, animals, and Greek myths

  • Star chart can help you find constellations in the night sky
  • The big dipper isnt a constellation it is actually a group of stars
  • The northern star is called polaris and is a very bright star
  • It is called the north star because it is very close to the north pole
  • There are also star charts for all 4 seasons
