DESIDERIUS ERASMUS

Politics:Desiderius Erasmus

Desiderius was the son of Gerret Gerritszoon a priest.In 1499 he adopted the life of an independent scholar, moving from city to city tutoring, lecturing, and corresponding with thinkers all over Europe. He began writing in the 1500 theological and secular subjects. His early works attacked corruption and superstition in the church and his famous satire 'The Praise of Folie'. He translated and edidited many classical and early Christian works. Erasmus when he visited England he would teach at Cambridge university. He wrote a complete declaration of his theological position 'On the Freedom of the Will' which contained a brilliant attack on Luther. Desiderius died in Basel in Switerland on July 12 1536.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

Society:William Shakespeare

He was born in the English city of Stratfordupon-Avon about 100 miles northwest of London in 1564. When William was he married Anna Hathaway. William was part of an acting company called Lords Chamberlin's man. Some of Shakespeare's early plays were Rome and Juliet,Richard the 3 and lot's more. William latter on in his life he became famous for the poetry he wrote and read. Shakespeare died shortly after. He became on of the greatest writers in his time period and now.

JOHANNES GUTENBURG

Science and Engineering:Johannes Gutenberg
Gutenberg invented the printing press. The printing press is often consider the best invention in modern times. Without the printing press we wouldn't of have the scientific revolution or even the renaissance. Gutenberg grew up in 1398. One of the most famous books he ever printed on his press was the bible. This was affective because his could print 1000 words a day suppose to the old way which was 45 to 50 words a day.

MICHELANGELO

Art and Architecture: Michelangelo

Michelangelo was born in March 6 1475 in Florence Italy.Even as a child all he wanted to do was paint and be an artist. Michelangelo's father wanted him to go to school but he had little interest. At the age of thirteen he was apprenticed to Domenico Ghirlandaio, a painter and artist. When he became more notice he went to see the big powerful Medici family to continue his training. Later he made great art works like the Sistine Chapel, Statue of David or even the Pieta. He worked on the Medici chapel and lot's of other places. His most famous piece was the St.Peter's Basilica in Rome.
