Surgeons are physicians who treat diseases, injuries, and deformities by invasive, minimally invasive or non invasive surgical methods, such as using instruments, appliances, or by manual manipulation.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience : many require more than 5 years experience with an additional 5 years of on site training
  • Education : a bachelors degree is the minimum degree, but most require a Ph.D, or M.D
  • Training : many require at least 1 year of residency.

Surgeons held about 691,400 jobs in 2012. Surgeons have demanding education many requiring 4 years of undergraduate, 4 years of medical school and 3-8 years in residency.

Wages for surgeons are among the highest of all occupations, with their salaries ranging from $220,942 - $396,233 a year.

I love the idea of how being a surgeon could help people, because I do love to do that. I just don't know how I could handle the loss of losing a patient because I would feel like it was my fault because I would feel like something I did was wrong and I wouldn't like to feel that burden.
