PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Matter

Everything is made up of matter.

  • Matter is sometimes not seen.
  • Matter is made up of atoms.
  • There are three main forms of matter.
  • Matter is everywhere.

The states of matter

  • Solid
  • Liquid
  • Gas

Solid matter

  • Within this state of matter, the atoms vibrate within place.
  • Because the atoms are packed so tightly, the atoms cannot widely spread out.
  • Solid matter cannot take place of a container.

Liquid matter

  • Because the atoms are farther spread apart, they can bounce around freely.
  • However, the pull of the atoms is strong enough to hold the liquid together.
  • Liquid matter can take the form of its container.

Gas matter

  • Gas contains the most freely moving atoms.
  • Its atoms move around rapidly and wildly.
  • The atoms are not held together; instead, they are far apart.

Gases make up most of Earth's atmosphere.
The types of gases in Earths atmosphere are nitrogen, oxygen, and various other gases.

MAKE UP OF EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE

Solid matter has a definite shape and volume.
Liquid matter does not have a definite shape.
Meanwhile, gas matter is found everywhere. The air around us is gas matter.
