PRESENTATION OUTLINE

PEWTER

SUBSTITUTIONAL

Pewter is a substitutional alloy because it consists of a solution of solid metals.

PERCENTAGES

2% Copper
96% Antimony
92% Tin
These are all added together to make the substance much stronger. Lead used to be used but now there is a limit on how much can be used so many times it's not used at all.

WHERE WAS IT FOUND

Tin was first fused near the Bronze Age. An Egyptian tomb had the earliest piece of pewter from around 1450 BC.

The green atoms on the particle drawing represent tin. Pewter is mostly tin, but because it is substitutional any can be replaced.

PROPERTIES

-Pewter does not tarnish and is very easy to clean.
-Pewter is easy to cast into shape.
-Pewter is safe and non-toxic so food and drink can be served with it.
