  • To take off the acorn shell.
  • The winnowing tray is then used to take off the skin.

A MORTAR AND A PESTLE

WERE USED TO GRIND THE ACORNS INTO A FLOUR CALLED MEAL.

THE LUISEÑOS USED A PROCESS

  • Called leaching to remove the tannic acid from the acorn meal to
  • make it edible.

FINALLY, THEY COOKED

THE MEAL IN AN OLLA AND STIRRED IT WITH A PADDLE.

IN CONCLUSION, ACORNS
