Devices

  • Turn on your device only when told to do so.
  • Only use it for class-related tasks.
  • Social media, taking photos, or recording is not allowed! (AU Policy)
  • Misuse may result in a referral and/or loss of device privileges.
  • Charge overnight, then bring your charger EVERY DAY.
  • Technology is fun when it is respected.

ENTERING THE CLASSROOM

  • Greet me with a smile and warm words.
  • Bring only SS materials to your seat. Store the rest in your cubby.
  • Quietly sit down and begin the Do Now right away.
  • Write down your homework in your agenda & wait quietly.
  • If you are using a device, close it & wait quietly.

During Instruction

  • Practice attentive listening skills. An attentive listener is:
  • Quiet
  • Facing the speaker and sitting up straight
  • Thinking critically about the lesson
  • Ready to answer questions or contribute to a discussion
  • able to repeat what was said in their own words.

An attentive listener is not:

  • talking or gesturing to others
  • looking at their device
  • sitting with his head down
  • facing away from the speaker
  • asking UNRELATED questions
  • out of their seat

while you are working

  • Read the directions carefully.
  • Use your time wisely.
  • if working in groups, speak softly and stay on task.
  • Respect one another.
  • Think about others instead of putting yourself first.

Finished Work

  • Check for errors & be sure it is complete
  • Make sure your name is on it
  • Complete any unfinished assignments
  • Read! Ask to do a Busy Bee Activity
  • Homework is to be completed before class begins
  • There are penalties for late work.

Exiting Class

  • Clean up your area. Pick up any trash!
  • Triple check that your desk and cubby are empty.
  • Never leave class without being properly dismissed.
  • If it is the last class, put the chairs on top of the desks.
  • Exit quietly - 3 FEET APART
