Newton's First Law of motion

By: Jonathan

Laws of Motion

  • Inertia is a property of matter
  • Inertia is the likelihood of an object to resist a change in motion
  • The more mass an object has the more inertia it has
  • An unbalanced force is the only thing that can overcome inertia

AN object in motion stays in motion

  • If you throw a football it will stay in motion until gravity pulls it down or someone catches it.
  • If a running back is tackled the unbalanced force is the defense
  • When the kick returner is returning a kick he is in motion
  • When he is tackled he is at rest

An object at rest stays at rest

  • When the center has the ball the ball is at rest and when the center snaps the ball it is in motion
  • When the placeholder is holding the football the football is at rest until the kicker kicks it.
  • The kicker is the unbalanced force
