A hunter named Rainsford is going to Rio on a hunting vacation, when he suddenly falls off his yacht..

Rainsford swims until he comes across an island, known as the Ship-Trap Island.

Rainsford travels deap into the forest, only to come across a humongous mansion.

Rainsford meets Zarof and his servant Ivan.

Zarof tells Rainsford about the new animal to hunt.

Rainsford fears for his life.

Zarof decided that he wants to hunt Rainsford.

Rainsford hides from the general in a tree.

Rainsford creates a pit- like trap to catch the general, but he ends up catching the dog.

After the trap that sends a knife flying into Ivan's head goes off, Rainsford jumps into the sea.

As the General gets ready for bed, Rainsford sneaks into his house and hides in his room.

After Rainsford reveals himself, the general makes a deal regarding life or death.

The story ends with Rainsford telling us that he has never slept in a better bed, leaving us to believe he has won the deal.
