ACTS 4,5, AND 6

CHAPTER 4

• The Apostles were teaching about the resurrection of the dead
• They saved a cripple
• The guards brought them in to custody for teaching in Jesus' name

BEFORE THE SANHEDRIN

• Asked them, "By what power or name have you done this?"
• Answered Jesus
• Gave them a warning not to preach anymore

PRAYER OF THE COMMUNITY

• Apostles told everyone what happened
• Prayed for courage to preach with boldnes
• They were all filled with the Holy Spirit
• Continued to speak with boldness

CHAPTER 5

• A man, Ananias and his wife sold property
• Kept some money for himself & gave the rest to the Apostles
• Peter said he lied to God
• When he heard this he fell & took his last breath

SIGNS AND WONDERS OF THE APOSTELS

• Many wonders were done to people at the hands of the Apostles
• More men & women became believers
• They carried the sick to the streets
• A large number of sick gathered and were cured

TRIAL BEFORE THE SANHEDRIN

• The apostles were put in jail
• The angel of the Lord came and opened the prison
• The apostles went to a temple to preach
• The guards came to the jail but the apostles were gone
• They found them at the temple & brought them in

CONTINUED

• Told the Apostles that they disobeyed their orders
• Responded that they must obey God
• Wanted to put them to death
• But a Pharisee warned them not to
• Apostles left & continued to preach

CHAPTER 6

• The 12 gathered together with the disciples
• The disciples selected 7 men to start preaching with the Apostles
• They presented the men to them
• The word of God continued to spread
• The number of disciples kept growing

ACCUSATION AGAINST STEPHEN

• Stephen was one of the 7 men chosen to preach
• They accused him of saying things against God
• They brought him before the Sanhedrin
• Everyone in the Sanhedrin saw that his face was like the face of an angel
