  • All the main members were in their own groups and some point
  • All met up in a single band, but went through several others before
  • Name changes, and member switching was common
  • First known as the Quarry Men in John Lennon's group
  • The famous 4 man line up known today came in 1962

  • A phenomena known as Beatlemania swept the UK
  • Gained widespread popularity with the young generations
  • Media coverage created a strong increase in their popularity
  • "Please Please Me" early in 1963 and "She Loves You" 
  • Those two songs made the beatles widely popular in the UK

  • The beatlemania in the UK had spread worldwide by 1963
  • The song "I Want to Hold Your Hand" was widely popular in the U.S
  • Increased media coverage and exposure made them a popular worldwide
  • Sharable music and recordings at the time made them easily accessible

  • The beatles and other artists such as The Rolling Stones lead this movement
  • On T.V shows such as CBS, The Jack Paar PRogram, and the Ed Sullivan Show
  • all featured these popular British groups like the Beatles
