  • Panic disorder
  • Respiratory alkalosis
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Sepsis

  • Pneumonia
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Heat emergencies
  • Rapid shallow breathing

WHAT HAPPENS DURING HYPERVENTILATION

  • Reduces amount of oxygen being released to muscles.
  • This causes the muscles to not be able to make energy.
  • Breathing too much causes a deficit in carbon dioxide.
  • Carbon dioxide is the bodies regulator of acid balance.
