Where Am I Going?

  • Use learning objectives/standards in Schoology
  • “In addition to providing students with clear learning targets, providing examples of high level work also helps students understand where they are going. Schoology is very flexible in terms of what you can upload and embed.” (Kellie Adie, 2015)

Where Am I Now?

  • Use the Schoology Poll feature.
  • Have students self-assess using a quiz/test function in Schoology
  • Use Mastery to help students see their progress on specific learning targets or outcomes.
  • Use Backchannel Chat or a Discussion Board for student reflection.
  • Embed or link other tools for self-paced quizzes or checks for understanding.

How Do I Close the Gap?

  • Leveraging rubrics for learning
  • Giving feedback with comments assessments
  • Giving feedback with comments in assignments
  • Differentiating resources and materials for student use

Summative Assessment w/ Schoology

  • Built in capability for digital tests/quizzes
  • Combined with Focused Browsing (Hapara), allows teachers to monitor student screens.
