A biosphere is the global sum of all ecosystems.
An example is a pond.

Habitat:
A habitat is an environmental area inhabited by a particular species of animal, plant or organism.
An example is rainforest.

Organism:
An organism is any contiguous living system.
An example is a flower

Population:
Total number of organisms of same species in same area.
An example is all the fish in a pond.

Niche:
Role of an organism in an ecosystem.
Example is a honeybee collects nectar and makes honey.

AUTOTROPH

  • Makes nutritive organic molecules from inorganic sources
  • Via photosynthesis or chemosynthesis
  • An example is a Maple Tree

HERBIVORE

  • An animal that consumes plants
  • Ex: Sheep

CONSUMER

  • An organism that obtains food from feeding on others
  • Ex: A Tiger

DECOMPOSER

  • Performs decomposition as it feeds on dead/decaying organisms
  • Ex: Mushrooms

ECOSYSTEM

  • Includes all living organisms (biotic & abiotic factors)
  • Ex: A forest

  • An organism that cannot make its own food
  • Must consume other organic material
  • Example: Horse
