These dogs also make great companions for the elderly, retired veterans, children and just lonely people. Most comfort dogs are Retrievers and Labradors

Their playfulness makes golden retrievers fun.

HOW BIG DO THEY GET? HOW MUCH CAN THEY WEIGH?

  • Male dogs are mostly 56-61cms tall and females have the average of 51-56cms.
  • A healthy retriever weighs between 60 and 75 pounds, with some of the very smallest and largest ranging as low as 55 pounds right up to 90 pounds.

The average life of your normal Golden Retriever is 10-12 years, though some do survive until 14.
The oldest recorded Golden Retriever my source could find was 19 1/2 years old!

In earlier times, all Labradors worked keep as a fisherman's helper: bringing nets, fetching ropes, and retrieving fish from the North Atlantic.

GOOD FRIENDS FOR KIDS

  • They are very good with kids. They will look after those they see as part of their pack.
