Thanksgiving STEM

Challenge:

• Design and build a Pilgrim shelter using the following materials and constraints...

Criteria

• Shelter must be large enough to containt one or more Pilgrims
• Shelter must have a way for the Pilgrim to enter and exit
• Shelter must protect the Pilgrim(s) from wind, rain, and snow

Constraints/Limitations

• Use only the materials provided
• Build, test, and re-design time is 3 days
• Final test on the 4th day.
• Structure must stand alone.

Materials

• 30 - 50 popsicle sticks
• Pipe cleaners (10)
• masking tape (24-36 inches)
• aluminum foil
• cardboard, paper plates, small cups

• Meter stick for measuring shelter dimensions
• Copies of Pilgrim and Native American cut-outs
• Spray bottle, eye droppers, etc to simulate rain
• Bottled water to simulate snow mass

• Straw to simulate the wind.
