• Joseph Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union

ALLEGORICAL INTERPRETATION

• Napoleon was the leader of the farm after Old Major died, just like Stalin was the leader of Russia
• Napoleon destroyed the Animal Farm's economy like Stalin destroyed Russia's economy
• Napoleon and Stalin both lived extravagant lifestyles while everyone else was starving
• "Gentlemen" Napoleon concluded, "I will give you the same toast as before, but in different form.
• Fill your glasses to the brim. Gentlemen here is a toast: to the prosperity of The Manor Farm!"

THEME

• Animal Farm was run under Animalism and the Soviet Union was run under Stalinism
• Both the Soviet Union and Animal Farm were Communistic
• The farm was run under the seven commandments but Napoleon decided to change them as he needed to
• All animals were supposed to be equal but Napoleon thought he was better
