PRESENTATION OUTLINE
The articles of confederation was the Unites States first Constitution. Proposed by the Continental Congress in 1777 it was not ratified until 1781.
The Articles represented a victory for who those who favored state sovereignty.
The articles of confederations created a national government composed of the congress which had the power to declare war.
Under the Articles the states not congress also had the Power to Tax Colonist.
The Articles of Confederation created a very week central government.
The Articles framers assumed that republican virtue would lead to states to carry out there duties & obey congressional decisions
