  • Push factors: oppression, poverty, and political conflicts
  • Pull factors: freedom
  • Economic opportunity

JEWISH MIGRATION

  • Many Jews were pushed to Israel after they rebelled against roman rules.
  • In 1290,England expelled its Jewish community.
  • Some Jews converted, but the vast majority chose to leave.
  • Jews migrated to holland, hungry, Poland, and Italy

CUBANS FLEE COMMUNISM

  • In 1959, Fidel Castro came to power in Cuba
  • Thousands of Cubans, disillusioned by his polices.
  • He promised to creat a democracy in Cuba.

THE FIGHT OF AFGHAN REFUGES

  • In 1979, some citizens of Afghanistan fled their country after the soviet Invaded.
  • The United States declared war against terrorism.
  • Thousands of refuges fled into Pakistan to escape the fight.
  • there 5 million refuges living in Pakistan.

BURUNDI AND RWANDA

  • In 1994, bitter fighting began in central Africa between Hutu and Tutsi tribes.
  • Almost half a million of the Tutsi people died.
  • Thousands died in these refugee camps from epidemics of disease.
  • Fled to neighboring Tanzania and Zaire.

GUEST WORKERS IN GERMANY

  • After world war 2 many Turks attracted by higher washes left turkey to work.
  • Many of these workers later returned to turkey.
  • Their housing and education are below average.
  • Most of them are still not German citizens even after living foe decades in the country.

IRISH POTATOES FAMINE

  • Many Irish propel depended on potatoes as their main food.
  • In the 1840s Ireland faced a disaster.
  • More than a million Irish starved to death.
  • Many Irish emigrated to America.
