The Columbian Exchange or Grand Exchange refers to the widespread transfer of animals, plants, culture, human populations and even some technologies.Explorers returned to Europe with maize, potatoes, and tomatoes, which became very important crops in Europe by the 18th century.

The Columbian Exchange was started with Christopher Columbus in March 1493. It was named after Columbus himself. It was an exchange between the old and new country. Columbus brought back european settlers, plants, and animails. Unfortunately diseases like smallpox and malaria were spread by European settelers.
