LINE

  • A line is a mark made by a pointed tool that has length and width but the width is so tiny compared to the length that
  • one perceives line as having only one dimension.

ACTUAL LINES

are created by artists to represent edges

CONTOUR LINE DRAWINGS

  • Are made of actual lines that represent exterior edges and interior significant
  • changes in the surface elevation.

LINE SKETCH

uses broken lines to approximate the general shape and surface of the subject

IMPLIED LINES

are created by abrupt changes in color.

VERTICAL LINES

GO FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP OF THE PAPER.

HORIZONTAL LINES

GO FROM LEFT TO RIGHT ON THE PAPER AND ARE PARALLEL WITH THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE PAPER.

DIAGONAL LINES

ARE STRAIGHT LINES THAT ARE NOT PARALLEL TO THE SIDES OR THE TOP OF THE PAPER
