THE SILK ROAD

TIME

  • The Silk Road lasted from second century BC to fourteenth century AD.
  • It started from Chang'an which is now Xian and ended in the Mediterranean.
  • This connected the China and The Roman Empire.
  • It went through India and Persia

SILK AND TRADES

  • Obviously, silk cloth was the main trade product.
  • People all over wanted to get this silk that China had made for thousands of years (called land of silk)
  • for its softness and how expensive and beautiful it looked
  • Other things that were traded- teas, salt, sugar, porcelain, and spices

BROUGHT PEOPLE TOGETHER

  • The Silk Road was one of the major building blocks of cultural diversion
  • and really connected multiple kingdoms and empires that at that time
  • kept to themselves and didn't really communicate with neighboring regions
  • The distance they had between them caused a major divide and cultures were confined to themselves

AFFECT IN CHINA

  • China's economy really started to grow and boom
  • It gave China a market to trade and sell items from
  • China's products became really popular
  • The very valuable products help China gain a very high profit
