Materials
-Computers with Internet connection
-A Gmail account

With all great lesson planning, start with the standards. In 2014, the Guam Department of Education fully implemented the Common Core State Standards.

Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.7.3
Analyze how particular elements of a story or drama interact (e.g., how setting shapes the characters or plot).

CONTENT OBJECTIVE:
We will be able to identify the different Elements of a Story such as setting, characters, and conflict.

Language Objective:
We will be able to define in writing the Elements of a Story.

Instructions

Incorporating GMAIL with LESSON PLAN

Task #1:
-Email teacher about the Elements of a Story: define setting, setting, plot, exposition, climax, and resolution. Use the definitions from the website.
-Take test from the interactive website and email teacher the score
-Wait for teacher’s reply

Task #2
Open “Task” option: create a task to begin a Google Hangout with groups of 3.

GOOGLE HANGOUT:
Discuss the following questions: Did you like learning the Elements of a Story through this website with games? What did you like about it? Do you think that learning about the Elements of a Story with the use of technology more helpful than with reading the story from a book and a lecture on the Elements?
