GATO-CLASS SUBMARINES

  • This fleet contained 77 boats, lead by the USS gato
  • The GATO-class became known as the backbone of the US navy submarine operations

  • Helped win the war with japan

SUBMARINE TORPEDOES

  • Originally used torpedoes from wwi but switched to the 21 inch mark-14 torpedo

  • The mark-14 could travel at 53 mph, carry a 660 pound warhead and had a range of 4,500 yards
  • Also had homing torpedoes which were slow but very effective

  • Faster battleships were being constructed
  • Having the most powerful and fastest battleship was very important

  • German tanks inferior in guns and armor and equipped with radios
  • Rotating tarrets were very important
  • Early Russian tanks had light guns but High maneuverability
  • France mainly used tanks for defence

  • Rat bombs
  • Small bombs were put inside of rats
  • Thrown into German boiler rooms by the British
  • Worker would shovel it into the furnace causing it to explode
